Criminal Justice, Associate of Science Articulated with SOU and WOU
Program Description
The Associate of Science degree (Criminal Justice) has been developed with the cooperation and support of Southern Oregon University (SOU) and Western Oregon University (WOU). The degree is fully articulated with Criminal Justice programs at both SOU and WOU which allows students to transfer directly as juniors and pre-majors in CCJ.
Program Outcomes
Students who successfully complete an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice will:
- Identify the major steps of the criminal justice process and how a case proceeds through the criminal justice system, including landmark Supreme Court decisions
- Communicate effectively in the criminal justice system including written, verbal and nonverbal form
- Describe how criminal justice professionals work effectively within a diverse society
- Describe the importance of positive criminal justice interactions, with an emphasis on continuing dialogue between all aspects of the criminal justice system and all segments of the community
Career Considerations
The Criminal Justice program prepares students for entry-level jobs and future careers in the following areas: law enforcement, corrections, and parole and probation.

Advising Notes
- Oregon colleges may have different preferences, please meet with your advisor to determine the right path for you.
- Students must complete a minimum of 90 term credits of lower division collegiate courses with a minimum grade point of 2.0 and a grade of “C” or better in Composition I 121Z and Composition II 122z or Technical Writing 2237Z, and the Communication class chosen to meet the Oral Communication requirement.
