Degrees & Certificates Overview
Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT)
The Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree is designed for students who intend on transferring to an Oregon Public University. The AAOT degree meets all of the lower division (freshman and sophomore) general education requirements at all of the Oregon Public Universities.
Within the AAOT, students may select a focus content area of study to support their interests and academic goals beyond general education.
FLIGHTPATHS
Students have the opportunity to identify a flightpath within focused content areas listed above. Flightpaths are discipline specific areas of study, and allow students to identify specific courses that support their academic and transfer goals.
Associate of Science (AS)
The Associate of Science (AS) degree is specific to receiving institutions and meet the receiving institution requirements as described by articulation agreements.This degree provides students with the foundation necessary to transfer to a four-year college or university within their chosen major..
Associate of General Studies (AGS)
The Associate of General Studies (AGS) degree is designed for students wishing to acquire a broad education, rather than pursue a specific major, focused content area, or career using a variety of collegiate level courses. Because of this degree’s flexibility, it may not fulfill requirements for transfer to a four-year school. Students should work directly with their advisor while working on their AGS degree.
General Education Core (Gen Ed Core)
The General Education Core Certificate is designed to develop and support students’ general knowledge, literacy, skills, and competencies, equipping them with the foundation for lifelong learning and advanced academic curricula. UCC's Gen Ed Core Certificate is a 15 credit, stackable credential, designed to build momentum and support persistence through higher education and beyond.
Core Transfer Module (CTM)
The Core Transfer Maps (CTM) are broad descriptions of course requirements for students at any Oregon community college or public university. It is designed to partially meet at least 30 credits of the General Education requirements for a bachelor’s degree at any Oregon Public Universities.
Oregon Transfer Module (OTM)
The Oregon Transfer Module (OTM) is a subset of courses which all “count” as a transferable block. It is designed to partially meet the General Education assignment of the Oregon Public Universities, totaling a minimum of 45 credits.
Career and Technical Education
Associate of Applied Science (AAS)
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree prepares students for entry into the workforce in specific areas. These degrees are typically non-transferable and terminal in nature.
Certificates
Certificates in a technical area of study are designed to prepare students with the skills and knowledge needed to enter a career field and may be a pathway to a degree.
Career and Technical Education Core Certificate (CTE Core)
The CTE Core Certificate is designed to demonstrate that CTE students have met and achieved the general education learning outcomes of Umpqua Community College, and to signify that they are prepared to move forward as a CTE student in their choice of programs.
Career Pathway Certificate
Career Pathways are certificates of completion, between 12-44 credits, and are designed to prepare students for employment and advancement in targeted occupations. Some may be stackable towards a larger certificate or AAS degree.
