Automotive Technology, One-Year Certificate
Program Description
The Automotive Technology program provides quality education and hands-on training to prepare students for successful entry into the Automotive Technology career field. The program prepares students to further their education, for those wishing to obtain a higher degree.
Program Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the Automotive Technology Certificate will:
- Apply fundamentals of automotive service training, including the basics of automotive diagnostics, repair, pre-delivery inspection, and warranty repair procedure.
- Diagnose, service, and repair automotive internal combustion engines
- Diagnose, service, and repair automotive brake, steering, suspension systems and handling concerns.
- Diagnose, service, and repair automotive drive trains
Career Considerations
The Automotive Technology Certificate will provide training in the skills needed for an entry-level position as a technician in most automotive dealerships and repair shops.

CWE experiences are strongly recommended. If a student is unable to complete a CWE, they should see their instructor for a substitution.
Advising Notes:
- Successful students from Career Academy Automotive will have AUT 100A and AUT 111 and will not need to retake.
- Students will need to have completed AUT100A or be currently enrolled in AUT 100A (available thru independent study each term) to enroll in other automotive courses.
